The external Blu-ray drive is needed for the BD playback with Macgo Mac Blu-ray Player, but some Mac users may have problems of ejecting the disc from their external drives. Based on the fact that Steve Jobs has always been negative about the Blu-ray function, Apple has shied away from supporting Blu-ray playback. As a result, it is possible to have a disk stuck in your Mac sometimes because of the poor compatibility between Mac OS X and Blu-ray drive. To prevent this incident, here are two methods that may help you solve the problem when you fail to eject the disk from Blu-ray drive on Mac.

  • This article provides instructions to prevent random ejection of external drives on Mac. The message “ Disk Not Ejected Properly ” usually appears when an external drive is disconnected from the computer without safely ejecting. However, some users have reported issues with drives randomly ejecting themselves after updating the macOS.
  • DiscEject is an unsophisticated Mac OS X application that will prove to be extremely useful whenever you have a CD or a DVD stuck in your reader: once you run the app, the disc will be physically.
Method 1: Disconnect the external drive from your Mac

Sometimes, your external BD drive might refuse to pop-up the disc, even if you push the Eject button a few times. You can try to unplug the Blu-ray disk drive, wait for a moment and insert it to your Mac again.

1.Check the left-hand side of the pop-up list under “Devices” in Finder on your Mac. Locate to the drive icon which matches the name of the BD in your drive.

2.Right click the icon and select “Eject”.

It is also the most common way that people prefer to use when they eject a disk from their Macs. You can see the picture below as a reference. However, this solution is not as efficient as the second one.

Method 2: Use the software tool bar on Mac’s desktop

As it is a bit safer to try ejecting the disc via software, using Macgo software to eject the disk from your Mac is considered to be a more convenient way of the other solutions. Only three quick steps can help you eject the disc successfully.

1.Do not turn off Macgo software after you finish watching the movie.

2.Click File located in left-hand of the tool bar on your desktop, you will see a pop-up list.

3.Click on “Eject Disc” and the disc will be ejected successfully.

Without disconnecting the drive, the eject disc function of Macgo software is much more convenience than using Mac system or the Eject button on the drive. You can see the picture below as a reference.

While optical discs are swiftly falling out of fashion, especially within Apple products, many Apple users still own products with optical drives – and at some point a disc will probably get stuck in that drive. So, what can you do when a disc won’t eject? Here’s are some troubleshooting tips that might help!

First courses of action:

  1. Press and hold the eject key.
  2. Right click on the disc icon in Finder, or on your desktop, and select the “eject” option from the menu.
  3. Drag the disk icon to the Trash.

If you’re disc is truly stuck, it’s likely that these won’t fix your problem. Fortunately, we have not yet begun to fight! There are many other tricks to try before giving up and taking it to the Apple Store!

Round Two

Eject Disk Mac Terminal

  • Launch Disk Utility, select the problem disc in the sidebar, and hit the Eject button at the top of the window. If your disk is still stuck:
  • Launch the Terminal app (found in the Utilities folder within Applications), and enter the following command: drutil eject

By now, if the issue is software related (and it usually is), one of these tricks will have worked by now. Personally, I’ve never had the Terminal command fail to eject a disk. If you happen to be unlucky, however, and the disk still wo’t eject, there are still a few more things you can do!

Round Three

  • Restart your Mac, while holding down your trackpad button (or your left mouse button if you are using a mouse). Keep holding that button down until the desktop appears. This triggers the system to eject your disk before OS X begins loading.
  • Shut down your Mac, then turn it back on and let it rest for 10 minutes. Don’t login to your Mac yet. After a few minutes have past, the disk may eject itself (that’s the default if you insert a disk before login). If not, try pressing the Eject key once more.

If your disk is still stuck, you almost certainly have a mechanical problem rather than a software problem. If your Mac is in warrantee, bring it to the Apple Store, or an Apple Authorized Service Provider. If it’s out of warrantee, an Apple Store still might help you without charging – although it’s equally possible you’ll get charged a service fee, or the optical drive may need to be replaced.
